ChildFund New Zealand has a holistic approach, working in partnership with community leaders and the parents and families of children.

ChildFund New Zealand

Headquarters: New Zealand
Active: in 9 countries

ChildFund New Zealand exists to protect children, and to enable an environment in which children and youth can thrive. This means helping create conditions where children and youth are educated, healthy, protected, engaged and resilient.

Past work in over 22 countries has taught ChildFund New Zealand that the strongest development outcomes are achieved by working with local partners in distinct geographic or thematic areas. In four of these areas in Kenya, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zambia, communities have developed Road Maps with ChildFund New Zealand. These are long-term strategic plans that articulate the needs and assets unique to each community and define the steps and milestones towards securing a positive future, and a time where the community no longer needs assistance from ChildFund.

ChildFund New Zealand also works with children and youth in Timor-Leste and the Pacific (currently Kiribati, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands). Here, their work focuses on child protection (including in emergencies), youth social and emotional wellbeing and disaster risk reduction.
