Earthquakes in Afghanistan

Multiple deadly earthquakes and aftershocks in Afghanistan near Herat Province have left more than 100,000 people in need of water, food, and other resources. An estimated 1,500 people are dead, nearly 2,000 wounded, and thousands are homeless.

Our Italian member, WeWorld is active in Herat, the epicenter of the earthquake, and is intervening with emergency relief and assessment activities to start a rapid distribution of essential goods. Visit WeWorld to learn how you can help provide emergency support to vulnerable communities in Afghanistan.

Flooding in Libya

In Libya, Storm Daniel resulted in widespread losses, with more than 5,000 dead, at least 10,000 missing, and more than 30,000 internally displaced. The damaging storm made landfall in Libya in early September, also causing significant damage to infrastructure including the collapse of two dams that sent water rushing into already inundated areas, decimating entire neighborhoods.

WeWorld, which has been operating in Libya since 2018, is coordinating with other organizations to provide vital humanitarian assistance to impacted communities. If you’d like to help with their effort to support the Libyan population, you can learn more here.
