International Day of Peace, 21 September 2018

ChildFund is one of dozens of international and domestic peacebuilding organizations that have joined together to release a statement on International Day of Peace, September 21. The statement, which comes ahead of the opening of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, calls on governments and the international community to: fully embrace the commitments to peace in the 2030 Agenda; reaffirm a commitment to human rights; foster social resilience by strengthening inclusion and addressing inequality; recommit to multilateralism as a safeguard for the most vulnerable; and protect and support civil society in fostering sustainable peace.

Implementing the New Commitments to Peace

Dozens of international and domestic peace-building organizations have joined together to release a statement in advance of the International Day of Peace (September 21). The statement calls on the international community and the UN General Assembly to fully embrace the commitments to peace in the 2030 Agenda; balance national efforts with a focus on regional and international drivers of peace, justice and inclusion; mainstream prevention; and protect and support civil society in fostering sustainable peace.
