Laos is the most bombed country per capita in the world. It's estimated over 270 million tonnes of sub-munitions from cluster bombs were dropped during the Vietnam War, but one in three didn't detonate and are still live today. ChildFund works in Nonghet district, an area badly affected by unexploded bombs, which continues to put children's lives at risk and traps communities in an ongoing cycle of poverty. For the people of Nonghet nutrition remains poor, diarrhoea kills many and education services are limited.

ChildFund is working to bring community-led, sustainable change in the areas of education, healthcare, water and sanitation, child and youth participation, and livelihoods. ChildFund Laos also recently begun work in Vientiane, the capital, in response to the increasing risks facing children in urban areas.
