In the Democratic Republic of Congo, more than 20 years of war and destruction have caused a social catastrophe. Families and entire villages have dissolved, and there are millions of orphans due to conflict and the AIDS crisis. Together with those who have fled poverty and hunger, many children and young people end up on the streets as outcasts.

In the province of South Kivu, an epicenter of violence, we give these street children a home and reunite them with their families. We support trauma counseling centers for women who have been abused and raped by itinerant rebels or militias – a perfidious means of warfare in Congo. And we take care of the children who are born after these crimes, who are cast out of society and innocently robbed of their future.
