We stand with children

"In this moment of such disheartening polarization, surely the one thing our country and the world can come together on is children." ChildFund International has released a statement in response to the U.S. administration's changes to the refugee program and the unintended consequences for children seeking refuge here.

As a child-focused organization, ChildFund International is always concerned that society's policies are framed in children's best interests. Our roots in helping children live their potential go back to the efforts of a few caring individuals to help orphaned Chinese refugee children in the wake of the second Sino-Japanese war. We knew then what we know now. Children are innocent victims of their circumstances. All deserve a real childhood.

More than half of the world's refugees are children. ChildFund is especially concerned about our own administration's changes to the refugee program and the unintended consequences for children seeking refuge here. We believe that our government can both keep our citizens safe and offer a safe haven for the most vulnerable.

ChildFund International calls upon our nation and our government to build bridges of understanding. To recognize that the world's current refugees in crisis are mostly innocent children who were forced to flee their homes. During their young lives, they have known violence, terror and upheaval. Now, their chances of survival rely on our nation's compassion. In this moment of such disheartening polarization, surely the one thing our country and the world can come together on is children.
