ChildFund Korea in Rwanda

In recent years, Rwanda has seen showing significant socio-economic progress. In particular, the education sector has shown improvement in terms of enrollment at the primary and secondary level. However, the area of early childhood development/education remains a challenge, although healthy physical, socio-emotional and cognitive growth, as well as linguistic development, are crucial. Child care and development services for children from zero to six years are generally poor and require professional support.

ChildFund Korea signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education and Gasabo District Office in Kigali, the capital, to ensure access to quality early childhood education and care services in three sectors (Jabana, Jali, Bumbogo). We aim to lay the foundation for positive social change in marginalized Rwandan communities, working with a variety of stakeholders. Our work aims to address the preparedness-gap among preschool children.
