WeWorld in Bolivia

WeWorld has worked in Bolivia since 1987 and is currently implementing programs in the regions of La Paz and Oruro.

This includes working with the Chipaya indigenous community, one of the first peoples to have inhabited Latin America, and partnering with the national meteorological service and the Bolivian civil defense to develop disaster risk reduction strategies in areas exposed to natural disasters and the effects of climate change.

WeWorld supports a range of sustainable development initiatives, focused on the production of clean energy. We have built hydroelectric plants, which are now managed directly by the local community.

In the Andean mining corridor, we are working to improve environmental governance and promote sustainable development through the support of indigenous communities. This includes supporting defenders of human and environmental rights in managing conflicts and facilitating dialogue with local institutions and multinational companies.
