Educo in Senegal
Education remains a major challenge in Senegal due to high illiteracy rates among adults, the considerable shortage of classrooms, harmful cultural practices such as child marriage, and high levels of poverty. Senegal also faces the scourge of child labor, with many girls exploited as domestic workers.
Educo operates in 18 schools in the Kolda region, working to improve education access and learning quality for over 7,000 children and young people. Educo is also working to change community perceptions on children’s right to education. We provide training to girls and adolescents on issues of gender equality and protection, but also in leadership and business management, which has improved their ability to defend their rights.
