Barbara studied medicine in Berlin and worked as a doctor at the University Hospital in Tubingen. Since 2001 she has worked at a medical practice for complementary medicine in Stuttgart. Barbara has been a member of the Board of ChildFund Deutschland since 1997, serving as Vice President from 2001 to 2008 and as President since 2008. Barbara also does voluntary work for a project that gives basic medical help to homeless people.
