Is the World Making Effective Change for All?

Find out about the High-Level Political Forum — what is it, and why is it so important to the global community.

More than 2,000 representatives of government, civil society, business and United Nations (UN) agencies are meeting at the annual High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) this week in New York.

They’re figuring out if the world is on track to meet six of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set in 2015 for completion by 2030.

Nearly 50 country representatives will voluntarily submit reports on their progress to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure peace and prosperity for all.

So, how are we doing on the goals? “People are living better lives than a decade ago. In sub-Saharan Africa: maternal mortality has declined 35 percent since 2000,” reports a video by the UN. But, we’re making change too slow. “Hunger is rising again due to conflicts, climate change, natural disasters and climate change.”

As part of the ChildFund Alliance — a global network of child-focused development organizations — we were part of creating the goals and making them a reality.

Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter as we provide updates from the forum, which runs until July 18.
